Job Overview
We are seeking a growth-oriented, detailed, and compassionate Medical Receptionist and/or Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service while managing front desk operations in a new medical office. This role requires proficiency in various medical software systems and a solid understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and patient care protocols.
This is a start-up medical practice, looking to move away from corporate medicine to return to a patient-centric, staff-centric, and physician-centric environment. We are looking for service-oriented team-players to create a nucleus that will help grow the practice forward.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere at the front desk.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying insurance information and collecting payments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans and medical histories.
- Assist with medical billing and coding using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and EHR
- Provide administrative support by managing phone calls through multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers to enhance patient service experience.
- Perform filing tasks to maintain organized medical records and office documentation.
- Support the team with clerical duties as needed to ensure smooth office operations.
Requirements
Most important is a patient-oriented approach towards supporting a growing practice
Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
Familiarity with insurance verification processes and health information management is preferred.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge of medical billing practices and coding (ICD coding) is an asset.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
