Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our eye care team. The Ophthalmic Technician will work closely with physicians to provide high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic testing, gathering medical histories, and assisting with clinical procedures. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate documentation within the clinic.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain thorough medical, ocular, and medication histories.
- Perform preliminary vision testing, including visual acuity, tonometry, pupil assessment, color vision, refractions, and visual field testing.
- Conduct diagnostic imaging and testing such as OCT, fundus photography, corneal topography, and other specialized studies as directed.
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments and ensure exam rooms are stocked and organized.
- Support the front office and clinical team in ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the day.
- Adhere to infection control, HIPAA regulations, and safety policies at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is a plus, but not required.
- Prior experience in ophthalmology or optometry strongly is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a clinical setting with direct patient interaction. The Ophthalmic Technician will work collaboratively with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other clinical staff.
